Senate certificates of Senate rules, 1943-1991.

The three forms of Senate certificates are: Senate certificates of Senate rule 38 and 39, Senate certificates of Senate rule 42 and 43, and Senate certificates of Senate rule 56. Rules are methods of legislative procedure, where Senate rules regulate only the Senate. Each certificate contains the name of a Senator, the district he/she represents, the signature of the Senator which certifies that he/she understands the provisions of the Senate rule, and the date the Senator signed. The rules serve as a statement of names and addresses of each public utility, public service, or quasi-public corporation, etc. subject to regulation of the Alabama Public Service Commission which the Senator may be or have been an agent, employee, officer, director, or attorney, or from which he/she may receive compensation, etc.
